The Location:
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is the province’s capital city. Edmonton is situated less than 15 kilometers south of Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, approximately 300 kilometers north of Calgary and is only 500 kilometers away from Fort McMurray, the area best known for its oil sands. The city is home to many high profile oil and gas companies, has a population of one million people and is the last metropolitan city on route to the oil sands to the north.
Edmonton is also the most obvious choice for this Petro Chemical Cluster which requires close proximity to the industrial heartland, a full array of services and most importantly offers easy access for people to work in the area. The provincial government has forecast this area to employ upwards of 150,000 workers and in addition provide billions of dollars in revenue for the province.
